Juice Beauty Phyto-Pigments Flawless Serum Foundation

DSC_0081 2 copy

Hello Everyone! I’m back again to share with you my thoughts in the Juice Beauty Phyto-Pigments Flawless Serum Foundation. Juice Beauty is a relatively new company to me and I’ve been intrigued by their “green beauty” philosophy and clean ingredients. Additionally, all of their skincare and makeup products are cruelty free and vegan. (That gives them an A+ in my book)

This foundation is supposed to contain an age-defying serum that creates a youthful appearance to the skin and keep the skin hydrated. The formula of this foundation is very liquidy. Due to the serum nature of this product the bottle needs to be shaken before applying. Despite the feel of this foundation I didn’t find it to be as moisturizing as it claims to be once on the face. I have combination skin that has leaned more dry as of recently. The foundation looked nice on my skin initially but, it did look a bit dry towards the end of the day.

After trying out this foundation I found it to have a medium coverage application. You can build it up to get a more full coverage look however, I found the product gets a bit cakey when applying a lot, even in layers. I found it is best to apply it with a foundation buffing brush if you want full coverage and a damp makeup sponge for light to medium coverage.

The only real problem I had with this foundation was the shade range. I have the color Rosy Tan and it is too light for me. There are a lot of shades for fair skin but not a lot of shades for medium to dark skin tones.

Overall, I really liked this foundation. It wasn’t exactly what I was looking for but, it is a good option if you are looking for a green beauty foundation. You can easily find this foundation at Ulta stores.

As a note: Everything I mention on this blog is vegan and cruelty-free! Thanks for reading!

Derma-e Microdermabrasion Scrub

DSC_0013

I love a good facial scrub and I especially love the way they make my skin feel. This microdermabrasion scrub from Derma-E is no exception. The product has a very fine grit that almost feels like sand granules. The scrub doesn’t dissolve away as you’re rubbing it into your skin so you can scrub for as long as you want. If you have sensitive skin you may want to use less pressure because this scrub is very abrasive and could cause irritation. Personally, I have not experienced any skin irritation or dryness due to this product. I use it about 1 to 2 times per week in the shower.

The main reason why this is my all time favorite scrub is that it leaves my skin feeling baby soft. It removes the top layer of dead skin on your face so you are left with the fresh, soft skin underneath. If you think your skin is looking dull or flakey I highly recommend you try this product.

Pacifica Mineral Sunscreen and Face Stick

DSC_0012

I was beyond jazzed when I heard that Pacifica was coming out with sunscreen.  Protecting your skin from the sun is very important however, most conventional sunscreens contain harmful ingredients that defeat the purpose of wearing it in the first place. Pacifica did a great job of using safe ingredients in this new sun-care line. This line is exclusively sold at Target stores which makes it is very easy to find.  If you want to know how these products performed just keep on reading 🙂

Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50: I will start by saying that the sunscreen ingredient in this sunscreen is zinc oxide. Zinc Oxide is the most natural form of sunscreen however, it does leave a white cast. If that bothers you this sunscreen may not be for you. Personally, that’s not something that bothers me. The other thing I want to point out is how oily this sunscreen is. Once you’ve rubbed it into your skin it looks and feels like you have just rubbed your body with tanning oil. When I first applied this spray I was having a lot of trouble getting it rubbed into my skin. After playing around with it a few times I learned that if you spray the product into your hands first then rub it into the skin it works best. If you spray it directly on the skin you end up using more than you need.

Mineral Face Stick: This facial sunscreen comes in a convenient stick form with an SPF of 50. The  product looks very white but, when you apply it, it goes on clear. I usually rub the product into my skin just to make sure my whole face is covered. The formula isn’t greasy or sticky and it did not cause me to break out. So far, I am really impressed with this product and it is my favorite out of their new sun-care line.

ELF Best Friend Eyeshadow Duos

DSC_0029

Left to Right: Soul Mate, Pink Pal

ELF recently came out with a line of new eyeshadow duos and of course, I needed to try them. I love how affordable ELF products are and they usually are pretty good quality. These duos are no different, the shadows are smooth and go on beautifully. I really love eyeshadow duos in general because they are perfect to travel with as they usually contain two complementing colors.

There are 5 different duos in this collection and I have 2 of them in the colors Soul Mate and Pink Pal. The duos contain one shimmer shade and one matte shade.

Soul Mate is the perfect “going out” duo. It is really great for a taupe-toned  smokey eye. I really love the shimmer shade in this duo. You can easily wear this shade blended out as a beautiful, day-friendly eye look.

Soul Mate

Pink Pal is perfect for everyday. It has a beautiful shimmery pink (that could be used as a highlighter) and a cool-toned matte brown. Out of the two I purchased, this one is my favorite because it is great for everyday. I really love neutral colors so this duo is perfect for me.

Pink Pal

Overall, if you want an inexpensive eyeshadow duo these are a great option. They are perfect for those who want a great eyeshadow look but don’t have the time to think about what colors look good together. The packaging and the ingredients leave a lot to be desired however at $3 a piece you can’t beat it. The quality of the eyeshadows themselves are great quality.

If you have tried these duos or the other colors please leave me a comment and let me know what you think 🙂

May 2017 Favorites

DSC_0003

The past four months have flown by for me and since I’ve been gone awhile I wanted to share some new favorites with you guys. The majority of these products are new to me however, one is an old favorite.

  1. Derma-e Purifying Gel Cleanser– As I mentioned in my previous post I was living in Florida for the past four months. You can probably guess that I was a hot, sweaty mess for most of that time. This cleanser worked really well to keep my pores clear of any gunk that can build up due to sweat. The activated charcoal gave my skin a really deep clean without being too harsh or drying. I’ve really been loving derma-e products lately and this cleanser has made its way into my weekly routine.
  2. Pacifica 7-Free Nail Color in Pink Moon- I have really been liking light colored nail polishes lately. I love that it makes your nails look polished but still natural. One thing I really like about Pacifica’s nail polishes is that they are free of the seven harmful chemicals used in conventional polishes. Even without those chemicals this polish applies evenly and has decent wear time.
  3. 100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Luminizer– This pink-toned luminizer has been my

favorite everyday highlight for almost a year now. It’s not overly sparkly or glittery so your face doesn’t look like a disco ball that could be seen from outer space. This luminizer gives the perfect “glow from within” look that I really love. To make it look even more natural you can set it with a damp beauty blender.

  4. Kopari Coconut Rose Toner– I mainly use this facial spray before I apply my makeup and to set my makeup. It smells fantastic and adds moisture to my skin that helps my makeup apply better. I also like to spritz a little bit onto my face during the day if my makeup needs freshening up.

Pacifica Hairvana Leave-In Conditioner

DSC_0034

Hello everyone! I’m back again to talk about one of my favorite haircare products, the Pacifica Hairvana Leave-in Conditioner. This leave-in treatment is much more than a leave-in conditioner. It is a great detangler, heat protectant, and frizz smoother. I use a about a quarter size amount of this on my hair from the midsection to the ends when it is wet. I don’t put it near my scalp because products tend to make my hair look greasy in that area. My hair is nearly impossible to comb through but this product makes it so easy. I use this every time I wash my hair and it’s not too heavy or greasy on my hair. Overall, if you are looking for something to perk up your hair this product is a great one to try out. All of Pacifica’s products are vegan and cruelty- free.

Z natural life Deodorant Review

DSC_0031

As many of you have probably experienced, finding a natural deodorant that actually works can be difficult. There are so many on the market and quite frankly, a lot of them suck. To add to my problem I have very sensitive skin and cannot use deodorants that contain baking soda. Baking soda is a common ingredient in natural deodorants because it is really great for neutralizing odor. Luckily, I have found two awesome baking soda-free deodorants (that really work!) and this one from Z natural life is one of them.

For starters, this deodorant is free of any nasty chemicals and aluminum that are common in conventional deodorants. Additionally, it is free of artificial colors and fragrances so it is really great for sensitive skin. To be honest I didn’t have high hopes for this product. I thought it was either going to irritate my underarms or it wasn’t going to work. Over the past six months I have learned that this deodorant is actually really great. Four of those months I have spent in central Florida where it is easy to get very sweaty.  Because there is no aluminum in this deodorant you will still sweat however, sweat does not cause the deodorant to wear off. I found that it lasts all day and it has not irritated my skin at all.

The deodorant comes in a squeeze tube with a “glide-on applicator tip” which is very easy to use. I really love that you don’t have to apply it with your hands like some other natural deodorants.

Overall, I think this deodorant is worth giving a try if you are having trouble finding a natural deodorant that works for you.  I love that it is sensitive skin friendly and it has a very light scent. Most importantly, it is cruelty free and vegan!

I bought my deodorant off of amazon here – https://www.amazon.com/Natural-Life-Extra-Strength-Deodorant/dp/B01LZ80SBE/ref=lp_14354310011_1_3_a_it?srs=14354310011&ie=UTF8&qid=1495569506&sr=8-3

January 2017 Favorites

Over this past month I have accumulated some new products that I have come to love. All of these products have been new to me this month and I wanted to share my thoughts about them!

  1. EcoTools Makeup Sponges– These sponges came in a pack of two (one dark green and one light green) and both sponges offer a different type of application. The larger,  dark green sponge is less dense and allows for a lighter application. The smaller, light green sponge is more dense and applies more of a medium coverage. The light green sponge is also really great for concealer application. I have been using both sponges quite frequently and they are a great dupe for the more expensive Beauty Blender sponge.
  2. Josie Maran Surreal Skin Argan Finishing Balm–  I got this as a sample at Sephora and I wasn’t sure how much I was going to use it. I was sick earlier in the month and I ended up using this product on the dry skin around my nose before applying makeup. It really helped re-hydrate the area and allowed my make up to apply better. You can use this as a primer before makeup or as a cream to put on top of your makeup. I think this product would be really great for anyone who experiences a lot of dryness on their face as it is great for soothing those areas.
  3. Root Pretty Loose Eyeshadow in Tan Rose– This is the first product I have ever tried from Root and I am very impressed. The eyeshadow is beautiful and applies very nicely without any fallout. I really want to try more of their products in the future.
  4. Cover FX Cream Concealer– I had been wanting to try a more full coverage concealer so, I picked up this concealer to test out. I really like the amount of coverage it gives and the formula is very easy to blend. You only need a very small amount of product because it is very pigmented. I primarily use it to conceal under my eyes and it doesn’t crease when I set it with a powder.
  5. Wet N’ Wild Megaliner– This eyeliner was another product I wasn’t sure I was going to like.I ended up finding that it has a felt tip applicator that is very easy to use. The formula of the eyeliner doesn’t smudge and drys to be a dark black color. I think it is a great option for anyone who is looking for an affordable liquid liner.

Leave a comment and let me know if you had any favorite vegan and cruelty free makeup products!

ELF Mineral Infused Mascara

dsc_0085

Hello again! I have a few thoughts to share about the ELF Mineral Infused Mascara. I’ve been trying out some affordable mascaras lately to see how they compare to my favorite high end mascaras. I really like how accessible ELF products are so, if you are in a pinch ELF is a great option.

This mascara has a thin rubber bristle brush that is easy to work with and evenly coats the lashes. The wand is a bit flimsy but, it isn’t too difficult to control. The mascara is a dry formula which I really enjoy because I find that it volumizes my lashes better than a wet formula.

I found that in order to layer this mascara you must do so while the first layer is still wet. After that the formula doesn’t allow for much layering and it can make your lashes look clumpy. The one thing I found disappointing about this mascara was how easily it can smudge and flake. This wasn’t an overwhelming problem but, it happened more than I would have liked. Mascaras don’t typically smudge on my eyes so I would not recommend this for anyone who finds their mascara smudges or runs easily.

Overall, I wasn’t blown away by this mascara but, I found it applied very nicely. I liked the look it gave my lashes it just wasn’t long wearing on my eyes.  With this mascara I think you get what you pay for but, for $3  you can’t beat it.
