Pacifica Hot Vegan Face Mask

DSC_0026

Hello Everybody! I’m back again to share my thoughts on yet another Pacifica product. This time it’s the Pacifica Hot Vegan Face Mask. This mask is formulated with (vegan) probiotics and spices to help draw out gunk from your pores. Sounds great, doesn’t it?

This mask has a thin, clear consistency  and smells like coconut. I apply a thin layer and leave it on for 15 minutes. The bottle says you can let it sit for 5-15 minutes. Within that time frame the mask does dry down and tighten slightly. It is not as tightening as a clay mask but it is worth mentioning. After the time is up I wash it off with warm water and apply my moisturizer.

I don’t find this mask to be drying on the skin at all so it is good for all skin types. I especially like to use it when my skin feels congested because it does “stimulate” the skin and helps to draw out dirt. If I use this mask at night I usually wake up with some small blemishes on my skin in the morning. Nothing big or painful but, enough that I know it was from the mask pulling it to the surface of my skin.

Overall, I like this mask and would recommend it to anyone who wants a product that will clean out your pores. It is relatively inexpensive, $15 and can be found at Ulta stores.

100% Pure Luminous Primer

DSC_0083

I don’t typically use face primer but, I was very compelled to try this primer from 100% Pure because I wanted to see what all the hype was about. Long-story short, I’ll try just about anything to have glowing skin.

This primer looks very shiny when it comes out of the pump and it has a smooth consistency. It feels really nice on the skin and preps it for makeup application. I was pretty skeptical at first because I think some primers can be quite gimmicky. In order to test this out accurately I used it with 3 different foundations: OCC Skin Tint, Juice Beauty Serum Foundation, and 100% Pure 2nd Skin. Additionally, I wore these foundations with and without the primer on multiple occasions. After putting this primer to the test I found that it does work. Each time I wore the primer, no matter what foundation I used, I noticed that the wear time of the foundation was lengthened. The foundations didn’t break up as easily throughout the day and my skin looked overall, more luminous.

This primer also contains resveratrol. Resveratrol is said to have anti-aging benefits when used on the skin however, when I did some of my own research I found only conflicting studies on the actual benefits. If anti-aging is a concern of yours this might be a good product to add to your makeup routine as there are no known harmful effects of resveratrol. Basically, I think it’s worth giving a try.

Overall, I really like this primer and I will be repurchasing it again and again. If you are looking for something that will help the longevity of your makeup and the appearance of your skin this is a great primer to try. This primer is silicone-free, vegan, and cruelty-free!

You can find the 100% Pure Luminous Primer here.

Pacifica Wake Up Beautiful Mask

DSC_0085 2

I have really been enjoying face masks recently and I have taken a liking to the Pacifica Wake Up Beautiful Mask. This face mask is a “sleepover” mask which means you don’t rinse it off your face before going to bed (almost like a leave-in conditioner for your face). This mask is super hydrating and is meant for dry to combination skin types.

I find this mask to be very therapeutic for my skin. It feels very cooling on any dry areas I might have on my face and my skin feels very moisturized in the morning. When I use this mask I apply it after I have cleansed my skin at night in place of my moisturizer. The mask completely sinks into your skin just minutes after you apply it and there is no visible residue on your skin in the morning.

Overall, I really enjoy this mask and I think it will be really great for my skin during the winter months or if I’ve been out in the sun too long this summer.

Derma-e Microdermabrasion Scrub

DSC_0013

I love a good facial scrub and I especially love the way they make my skin feel. This microdermabrasion scrub from Derma-E is no exception. The product has a very fine grit that almost feels like sand granules. The scrub doesn’t dissolve away as you’re rubbing it into your skin so you can scrub for as long as you want. If you have sensitive skin you may want to use less pressure because this scrub is very abrasive and could cause irritation. Personally, I have not experienced any skin irritation or dryness due to this product. I use it about 1 to 2 times per week in the shower.

The main reason why this is my all time favorite scrub is that it leaves my skin feeling baby soft. It removes the top layer of dead skin on your face so you are left with the fresh, soft skin underneath. If you think your skin is looking dull or flakey I highly recommend you try this product.

Pacifica Mineral Sunscreen and Face Stick

DSC_0012

I was beyond jazzed when I heard that Pacifica was coming out with sunscreen.  Protecting your skin from the sun is very important however, most conventional sunscreens contain harmful ingredients that defeat the purpose of wearing it in the first place. Pacifica did a great job of using safe ingredients in this new sun-care line. This line is exclusively sold at Target stores which makes it is very easy to find.  If you want to know how these products performed just keep on reading 🙂

Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50: I will start by saying that the sunscreen ingredient in this sunscreen is zinc oxide. Zinc Oxide is the most natural form of sunscreen however, it does leave a white cast. If that bothers you this sunscreen may not be for you. Personally, that’s not something that bothers me. The other thing I want to point out is how oily this sunscreen is. Once you’ve rubbed it into your skin it looks and feels like you have just rubbed your body with tanning oil. When I first applied this spray I was having a lot of trouble getting it rubbed into my skin. After playing around with it a few times I learned that if you spray the product into your hands first then rub it into the skin it works best. If you spray it directly on the skin you end up using more than you need.

Mineral Face Stick: This facial sunscreen comes in a convenient stick form with an SPF of 50. The  product looks very white but, when you apply it, it goes on clear. I usually rub the product into my skin just to make sure my whole face is covered. The formula isn’t greasy or sticky and it did not cause me to break out. So far, I am really impressed with this product and it is my favorite out of their new sun-care line.

May 2017 Favorites

DSC_0003

The past four months have flown by for me and since I’ve been gone awhile I wanted to share some new favorites with you guys. The majority of these products are new to me however, one is an old favorite.

  1. Derma-e Purifying Gel Cleanser– As I mentioned in my previous post I was living in Florida for the past four months. You can probably guess that I was a hot, sweaty mess for most of that time. This cleanser worked really well to keep my pores clear of any gunk that can build up due to sweat. The activated charcoal gave my skin a really deep clean without being too harsh or drying. I’ve really been loving derma-e products lately and this cleanser has made its way into my weekly routine.
  2. Pacifica 7-Free Nail Color in Pink Moon- I have really been liking light colored nail polishes lately. I love that it makes your nails look polished but still natural. One thing I really like about Pacifica’s nail polishes is that they are free of the seven harmful chemicals used in conventional polishes. Even without those chemicals this polish applies evenly and has decent wear time.
  3. 100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Luminizer– This pink-toned luminizer has been my

    100% Pure Luminizer

favorite everyday highlight for almost a year now. It’s not overly sparkly or glittery so your face doesn’t look like a disco ball that could be seen from outer space. This luminizer gives the perfect “glow from within” look that I really love. To make it look even more natural you can set it with a damp beauty blender.

  4. Kopari Coconut Rose Toner– I mainly use this facial spray before I apply my makeup and to set my makeup. It smells fantastic and adds moisture to my skin that helps my makeup apply better. I also like to spritz a little bit onto my face during the day if my makeup needs freshening up.

Z natural life Deodorant Review

DSC_0031

As many of you have probably experienced, finding a natural deodorant that actually works can be difficult. There are so many on the market and quite frankly, a lot of them suck. To add to my problem I have very sensitive skin and cannot use deodorants that contain baking soda. Baking soda is a common ingredient in natural deodorants because it is really great for neutralizing odor. Luckily, I have found two awesome baking soda-free deodorants (that really work!) and this one from Z natural life is one of them.

For starters, this deodorant is free of any nasty chemicals and aluminum that are common in conventional deodorants. Additionally, it is free of artificial colors and fragrances so it is really great for sensitive skin. To be honest I didn’t have high hopes for this product. I thought it was either going to irritate my underarms or it wasn’t going to work. Over the past six months I have learned that this deodorant is actually really great. Four of those months I have spent in central Florida where it is easy to get very sweaty.  Because there is no aluminum in this deodorant you will still sweat however, sweat does not cause the deodorant to wear off. I found that it lasts all day and it has not irritated my skin at all.

The deodorant comes in a squeeze tube with a “glide-on applicator tip” which is very easy to use. I really love that you don’t have to apply it with your hands like some other natural deodorants.

Overall, I think this deodorant is worth giving a try if you are having trouble finding a natural deodorant that works for you.  I love that it is sensitive skin friendly and it has a very light scent. Most importantly, it is cruelty free and vegan!

I bought my deodorant off of amazon here – https://www.amazon.com/Natural-Life-Extra-Strength-Deodorant/dp/B01LZ80SBE/ref=lp_14354310011_1_3_a_it?srs=14354310011&ie=UTF8&qid=1495569506&sr=8-3

100% Pure Aqua Boost Hydrating Mask

DSC_0112

Since my new found struggle with dry skin I have been trying anything and everything that claims to be hydrating. I still get the occasional breakout so I try not to use anything too heavy on my skin for fear it will clog my pores. I picked this mask up hoping it could add the hydration my skin was needing.

First off, the mask smells great. It is super refreshing and smells just like cucumber. I left it on for about 15 minutes (the packaging doesn’t have directions so I looked it up on their website). After using this my skin did feel noticeably hydrated without being greasy.

The real test of this product was when I took it with me to Florida. I brought it thinking it would help my skin recover from the flight there. While in Florida I managed to get a massive sunburn (reapply your sunscreen, kids!). The entire right side of my face was burnt to a crisp. That night and every night after I used this face mask to lessen the effects of the burn. I thought for sure I was going to be dealing with a major face peeling situation.  To my surprise, my sunburn didn’t peel at all. Not one bit. Usually when I get sunburnt I can expect it to peel within a few days. I was shocked that it even helped reduce the redness as well.

Overall, this is now one of my go to products when my skin starts to feel dry. Hopefully, I won’t get any more sunburns but if it does happen I’ll be sure to use this mask.

Parting Thoughts:

  • Great for dry and sensitive skin
  • Not oily or heavy on the skin
  • Incredibly healing
  • Vegan and cruelty-free!

100% Pure Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream

DSC_0057

For a few months now I’ve been really intrigued by “green beauty” and 100% Pure has quickly become one of my favorite brands within this category. I have heard nothing but good things about their coffee bean caffeine eye cream and wanted to try it for myself.

Winter has hit my skin pretty hard this year and for once in my life I have been searching for “moisturizing” products. This product claims to “de-puff” the eye area and lessen fine lines and wrinkles. Personally, I don’t struggle too much with dark circles or puffiness, however, my eye area tends to be very sensitive and dry. If I am not careful that area tends to look somewhat scaly.

This eye cream has been a lifesaver when it comes to the dryness I’ve been experiencing. I apply a thick layer at night and sometimes I apply it again in the morning. I have noticed a significant difference in the appearance and texture of my under-eye area.

Parting Thoughts:

  • Very moisturizing and softens the look of the skin underneath my eye.
  • Contains aloe and rosehip oil which are very gentle on the skin.
  • Smells very similar to their vanilla scented body lotion.
  • Available in two different sizes (I have the smaller tube)
  • Vegan and cruelty free!
